Environmental industry development: a new playground for businesses

(09:26:00 AM 14/10/2014)
(Tinmoitruong.vn) - According to Dr. Do Huu Hao, Chairman of Vietnam Environment Industry Association in a national workshop on environmental industry products, Vietnam environment industry is very young and is in the early stage of development.

Surveys conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in the whole country, there are 4,000 enterprises registered in the field of environmental services. 16 economic sectors needs an estimated US$ 7.6 billion in investment in environmental protection. However, only a small number of businesses, mostly small-and-medium-sized enterprises, have registered to supply urban and industrial waste water treatment services.

With that demand, it is considered both challenges and opportunities to develop environmental industry for environmental businesses providing technology, equipments, services and products to meet the requirements of environmental protection.

Hence, to develop the "super profits" industry, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Trung Hai - Director of Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (Hanoi University of Technology), it needs to develop  large-scale environment businesses.
