Travel firms upbeat ahead of long holiday

Pham Bich Ngoc, head of the retail division at the Vietrantour travel agency, said that current reservations indicate the company will serve roughly 3,000 customers during the April 30 holiday, a 50 percent increase from 2014.

Ngoc noted all the tours offered by the company to Southeast Asian countries are BOOKED and revealed Vietrantour is already working with airlines to increase ticket availability for 2016, as demand is expected to rise sharply.

According to Hanoi travel agencies, there is considerable diversity in the types of tours booked by travelers in duration, location, and others.

Sapa, Cat Ba Island, Ha Long Bay, Mai Chau, Tam Dao, Ly Son Island, Phu Quoc Island, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Da Nang are predicted to remain top destinations in this year’s tourist season.

Hoang Phuong Anh, Deputy Head of local tours division at the Asian-Pacific Travel Company, said even though the holiday is still more than a month away the company has already seen a strong increase in BOOKINGS.

The April 30 holiday could be a substantial boost for the tourist season this year, Anh added.

Beyond promotion campaigns organized by travel firms, the Vietnam Tourism Association and travel agencies also plan to hold a Vietnam International Tourism Mart 2015 in Hanoi to introduce new destinations and products.

Despite an expected increase in tourism volume, according to travel agencies, tour prices will remain unchanged or even drop 20-25 percent from last year.
