As the plan of economic - social development of Vietnam, for the target for the period of 2011-2015, 100% of Industrial Parks (IPs) in operation must have wastewater treatment systems. To accomplish this goal, MPI is working with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment, concerned ministries and local authorities to complete the legal framework in this field. In addition, the functional agencies are increasingly building supportive programs and policy to raise awareness of enterprises, people and agencies involved in environmental protection of IPs through supportive programs and training courses.

In the coming time, sanctions for the IPs in violations of the law on environmental protection will increase sharply. For IPs in perceived violations, in addition to administrative sanctions, their operating licenses will be revoked.
