(21:37:39 PM 29/10/2014)
The delegates shared their experiences coping with CC in coastal areas
The Declaration emphasized the need to incorporate the contents of climate change into sustainable development plan, rather than simply natural disaster risks. At the same time, when climate change has been accepted as a part of sustainable development, there is a need to give the new and more relevant management methods.
The Forum is operating within the framework of the project "Building Coastal Resilience to the impacts of CC in coastal areas of Southeast Asia - BCR", which is held from 23 to 25/10 in Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia. Over 200 delegates shared activities for CC adaptation and improvement of resilience in coastal areas, including rehabilitation and management of mangrove forests, erosion management, spatial planning of coastal zone, rights of communities in the management of natural resources, diversification of livelihoods...
BCR is a project funded by the European Union in 4 years for 8 provinces of 3 countries: Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam. In Vietnam, BCR Project’s operation is located in Can Gio district (Ho Chi Minh City), Ben Tre, Soc Trang and Kien Giang.
