GE offers $34,500 in scholarships to Vietnamese students

( - A scholarship program under American conglomerate GE is accepting applications for ten grants worth $3,450 each for Vietnamese undergraduate students currently enrolled at designated universities in Vietnam.



The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program says on its website that ten scholarship winners will receive $1,150 per year for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of their undergraduate programs.


Successful candidates will also have an opportunity to be mentored by a GE business leader, participate in GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders activities – including a specially designed leadership development seminar – and partake in community development projects.


Applicants must currently be full-time freshman at one of the following:  Can Tho University, Da Nang University, Foreign Trade University – Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi National Economics University, Hanoi University of Technology, Hue University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam National University – Hanoi, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, and Nha Trang University.


They are required to be studying business/management, engineering or natural sciences at the universities; to have high academic performance, as demonstrated by first semester university results and high school transcripts; and to demonstrate financial need.


Application forms, including essays and other supporting documents, must be submitted online at by 11:59 pm on March 31 and arrive via post by the same date at the Institute of International Education (IIE) office at Room 405 Building A, Van Phuc Diplomatic Compound, 298 Kim Ma Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program was initiated in 1987 in Mexico and has grown to support outstanding students in higher education in fourteen countries around the world, according to its website.


It is administered by the IIE, an independent non-profit founded in 1919, on behalf of the GE Foundation.
