5-star international hospital opens in HCMC

(16:34:20 PM 10/01/2014)
( - The City International Hospital, one of the largest private international hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, was put into operation at an inaugural ceremony on Sunday.

The hospital is located on an area of 57,000 square meters in the Hoa Lam- Shangrila High Tech Healthcare Zone in Binh Tan District, HCMC.

The facility was built in 2010 and was completed in late 2012 with a total cost of about US$400 million, said Tran Thi Lam, chairperson of the Board of Members of the Hospital.

The hospital’s investor is Hoa Lam Shangri-La Medical Co Ltd, a joint venture between Vietnam’s Hoa Lam Company and Singapore-based Shangri-La Healthcare Investment Pte. Ltd. (Singapore).

The hospital obtained an operation license from the Ministry of Health in May 2013 and meets the 5-star standard.

The hospital has 320 beds and 20 clinical and near-clinical departments, including obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedic surgery, ear-nose-throat, ophthalmology, urology, neurology, oncology, digestion-liver-bile, internal medicine, and others.

With 600 doctors, nurses and other health workers and with advanced medical equipment, the hospital is the provider of health services by international standards for residents in the city as well as neighboring localities.

The hospital is the first of the six hospitals to be built in the Hoa Lam- Shangrila High Tech Healthcare Zone under a project approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in 2008.

The hospital is operated by Parkway Health Group, one of the largest private healthcare providers in Asia with operations in Singapore, Malaysia, China, India, Brunei and Vietnam.

The above-mentioned zone is expected to be developed into a “city of heath”, which may employ about 10,000 health workers, in the 2014-2018 period.
