The rice, valued around 35,000 USD, came from a campaign launched by the embassy and the Vietnamese Association in Angola in late 2013 to assist households in need of food aid in the country ’s drought-affected areas.

At the hand-over ceremony, Namibe deputy governor Alcides Cabral thanked Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese community in his country in particular for the assistance, describing it as a manifestation of friendship.

In December 2013, the embassy also sent 6,000 USD contributed by the Vietnamese people in the African country to support flood victims in central provinces in the homeland, and people and soldiers in the Truong Sa archipelago
