Delicacies from Ben Tre coconut

( - Coconut trees are not only mentioned in poems but also contribute to making famous delicacies for the southern province of Ben Tre, which is considered the kingdom of coconut trees in Vietnam.

All parts of coconut trees can be used, from root to tip.


Coconut water is a sweet and fresh drink. Coconut water is not only used in coffee shops but also used to process delicious cuisines such as Chinese braised pork, shrimps fried with coconut juice, fish braised with coconut juice, etc.

Coconut rice is processed from rice with fresh coconut water. Rice is cooked inside coconuts until coconut juice is dried. This dish is the most delicious when it goes with roasted shrimp.
 Coconut candies are Ben Tre specialties. This product is made from coconut milk and malt.
Banh phong is a traditional coconut cake of Son Doc village in Phu Ngai commune, Ben Tre. The primary material is glutinous sticky rice which has been exposed to the sun. The cakes are baked on coconut shelves.
Coconut salad is made from the young leaves of coconut trees and shrimp and pork.
Snails fried with coconut milk is a unique cuisine. The fat of the coconut combined with the sweetness of the snails creates a very special taste.

My Long gridle cake is a specialty and the pride of Ben Tre people, with coconut flavor.
Coconut porridge includes rice cooked with coconut milk and copra. Coconut porridge can be served with sugar or snakehead fish.
Coconut jam is made from the most delicious coconuts, mixed with white sugar.
Coconut wine must be made from young coconuts.
Coconut mice are the animals that damage coconut trees but they are processed into many delicious dishes.
Coconut worms: Only dead coconut trees have worms. People cut down the trees to catch worms to process many cuisines. The worms are very fat and nutritious because they eat all the nutritious parts of the coconut tree.
