Con Dao National Park - the first marine Ramsar site of Vietnam Tin mới nhất

(Tinmoitruong.vn) - Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has received the Certificate of Recognition for Con Dao National Park as a wetland with international importance, awarded by the Ramsar Convention. This is the 2,203rd Ramsar site of the World, and the 6th site of Vietnam.

The notable feature of Con Dao National Park is the first marine Ramsar sites of Vietnam. As a Ramsar site, the National Park has to satisfy five criteria of the Ramsar Convention; there are important values at the international level, rich flora and fauna, globally threatened animal species, Vietnam’s typical vegetation and coral.

The recognition of Con Dao National Park as a Ramsar site contributes to empower Vietnam's efforts in implementing the Ramsar Convention, expressing the commitment of the Vietnam Government in its efforts to conserve and use wisely wetlands and in accordance with the Action Plan on biodiversity of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
