Vietnam to attend Asia - Pacific Rainforest Summit

( - In a meeting between Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen and Mr. Robert Hill – a special advisor to the Australia’s Federal Environment Minister, on October 6 in Hanoi, Mr Robert Hill said the Australian government paid special concern about the Vietnam’s forest restoration and biodiversity conservation. Asia – Pacific Rainforest Summit will take place from November 11 to 12, 2014, in Sydney, Australia, therefore, Australia is looking forward to the participation of representatives of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The conference aims at creating a forum with the participation of ministers and senior officials from countries that have tropical rain forests, donor countries, leaders of unions and senior professionals from NGOs. The participants will discuss way to slow rainforest clearing and re-forestation efforts in a bid to cut greenhouse emission. Vice Minister Bui Cach Tuyen confirmed that Vietnam will participate in this meaningful and important conference.


Also, the Deputy Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of Australia for their practical support for Vietnam’s natural resources and environment sector.


Overview of the meeting

Since 1999, the two countries have developed relationships bilateral cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology and then the cooperation in land resources, water resources. In 2013, the Australian Government proposed to provide 8 million Australian dollar for the National Target Programme in Respond to Climate Change and for the implementation of investment projects under the Support Programme to Respond to Climate Change (SP-RCC).

( - Airbus and the Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have launched a long-term partnership to reduce the impact of aviation on the environment. The agreement was signed during the ICAO World Aviation Forum on Aviation Partnerships for Sustainable Development in Montreal Canada. This programme will cover a tailored offering of services and expertise.
