Vietnam: Continue to strengthen water management in river basins

(Tinmoitruong.vn) - ​In the morning of July 21, in Hanoi, Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) has a meeting with the delegations of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to make discussion on the implementation of the project on strengthening water management in river basins in Vietnam.


The goal of the project is to strengthen the enforcement of environmental water management in river basins for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Environment Administration and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in Vietnam.
 
The project’s activities include the development of a regulatory framework for water management and action plan for the environmental protection of water resources in the river basins, establishment of information sharing system and development of a database system to integrate and aggregate data on the water environment, etc.

(Tinmoitruong.vn) - The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has introduced the lattest national greenhouse gas inventory report (GHG). Accordingly, the total GHG emission and absorption of the whole country is 246.8 million tonnes of CO2. Of those, the energy sector is the area with the highest GHG emissions accounting for 53.1% and the agriculture sector accounts for 33.2% of the total.
