Strange animal report turns out false

(10:20:33 AM 09/03/2015)
(Tinmoitruong.vn) - The story about a man living in the Binh Xuyen district of the northern province of Vinh Phuc capturing a creature thought to be a rare Japanese frogfish turns out to be a hoax.

Strange animal report turns out false

Tung Nguyen, 25,saidhe found the strange-looking gray animal in a pond near his house located in the Tam Hop commune and managed to contain it.

After seeing a picture of the animal on Nguyen’s Facebook page, forest rangers, local police and a group of experts visited Tung's house to check out the animal.

Based on the picture, Vu Ngoc Thanh from the Biology Faculty of the University of Natural Science thought the animal might belong to a variety of Chinese rare and precious frogfish that need urgent preservation.

However, an animal expert from the Vietnam Museum of Nature said he was under the impression the giant animal may have originated in Japan.

Forest rangers in Vinh Phuc were prepared to give Tung US$1,000 to pay for costs of caring for it.

But it was all just a hoax. Tung only posted a photo of a strange animal on his Facebook page, and he didn't catch it. Actually, he is the one that got caught looking like a real strange fool!
